The Sculpture Forum international will be a summer study program with a concentration in sculpture, more specifically: stone carving. This summer we will start with two 3 ½ week long sessions for up to 6 students at a time that will provide an in depth studio experience, carving local and foreign marble and other stones on the beautiful South Shore of Nova Scotia.
TSFi seeks to address intermediate and advanced art students (no experience in the medium is necessary) that have some professional training in art. It may apply as well for skill upgrading and professional development for graduate students, art faculty and emerging or established artists.
TSFi is a studio art program taught by professional artists and experienced Professors of Sculpture that provide an ideal surrounding for the serious student interested in pursuing contemporary art, using a traditional technique according to technical standards of today.

TSFi is modelled after European summer study programs as established mainly in Italy, close to the marble quarries in and around Carrara and Pietrasanta. Furthermore it will be compatible with a University study abroad / summer study program and depending on individual arrangements could provide students with viable credits towards their degree from some North American institutions.

Contemporary thought is the driving force for necessary change and renewal of any society. Culture is the manifestation of contemporary thought. When culture is put into historical, local, national or international context, it is the definition of the people; it is the voice of the time.
TSFi works out of a unique location and seeks to be a small, but significant cultural contribution dedicated to supporting the voice of the individual artist and sculptor as a critical and active member of our society.
